Goals for the new year, one step at a time
Big goals, like owning a home, do not happen in one day. They happen one small step at a time. Pick the first step, take it this month, and enjoy the road.
Why do we forget our goals by March?
Every December we promise ourselves more. More savings, more exercise, a better diet. By March or April, many of those promises are gone. I wrote about this in 2018, and I was honest: my exercise goal stayed "pending." It still makes me laugh.
I think we see only how big the dream is, and we forget it comes one step at a time. When the result does not come fast, we give up.
How do you reach a big goal?
- Keep the dream big enough that you never lose sight of it.
- Break it into small steps.
- Stop sometimes to say thank you for how far you came.
- Breathe, and keep going.
Life is not only big moments. It is many small moments that become big together.

Here are small first steps for this month:
- Look at your monthly budget.
- Talk with a lender about what you can afford.
- Make a list of what you need and what you want.
- Talk with me about the areas that fit your list.
What do I wish for you this Christmas?
In 2018 I wrote that I only wish what I truly mean. If I don't mean it, better to say nothing. And never wish anyone harm.
My wish was simple: give every client my best service, so they can sell, buy, or invest in what they dream about. That is still my wish.
Now 2026 is almost over. My wish for the months that are left is to keep working hard, close many sales, and help as many clients as I can. And to spend Christmas and New Year's with my mom.
Then and now
I first wrote "Viene Navidad y ahora?" and "Deseos de Navidad" in 2018. The message is the same: one step at a time.
